🏰 The 2020 Emmanuel Rouget Bourgogne Passetoutgrain carries the 【legacy of Henri Jayer】, Emmanuel Rouget's legendary uncle, known for producing exceptional Burgundy wines. This red Bourgogne wine, a blend of Gamay and Pinot Noir, is typically light and perfumed in style. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy was largely considered excellent despite tricky conditions, with unusually high temperatures. Tasting notes often reveal vibrant red fruit characteristics like raspberry, cherry, and black cherry, complemented by earthy notes of mushroom and hints of oak, vanilla, and floral nuances. While some reviews for the 2020 vintage suggest it might be harvested late or have higher alcohol, it generally offers an easy drinkability and a vin de soif character.
🍴 This light and perfumed red Burgundy is a versatile food companion. It pairs wonderfully with poultry like chicken and turkey, cured meats, and mushroom dishes. Its fresh fruit and balanced acidity also make it suitable for a casual meal or a picnic.
🥂 Ideal for everyday enjoyment or a relaxed gathering with friends, this wine offers a taste of Burgundy's charm without the formality. It's best enjoyed slightly chilled to highlight its fresh fruit character.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Emmanuel Rouget was founded in 1985 in Burgundy, France. The wines produced by the estate quickly gained a legendary status among collectors worldwide. The winery is located in Flagey-Echézeaux. In addition to Pinot Noir, Emmanuel Rouget also uses Gamay for winemaking and produces high-quality white wines from Aligoté in the Burgundy region. Emmanuel Rouget is considered a successor to Henri Jayer's winemaking philosophy, adhering to the "non-interventionist" approach from cultivation to production.
