🏰 The 2018 Comtes Lafon Volnay is a stunning example of 【Volnay's delicate power and elegance, crafted by a legendary producer renowned for their meticulous biodynamic viticulture and exceptional terroir expression】. The 2018 vintage in Burgundy was warm and generous, producing ripe, opulent wines with good concentration and supple tannins. Comtes Lafon, primarily known for its white wines, also produces exquisite reds from Volnay, showcasing a lighter touch and profound complexity. This Volnay typically offers a captivating bouquet of red cherries, wild berries, rose petals, and subtle earthy undertones, with hints of spice. On the palate, it is graceful and harmonious, with a silky texture, vibrant acidity, and a long, perfumed finish that speaks of its noble origin.
🍴 This elegant Pinot Noir is a superb match for refined dishes such as roasted guinea fowl, pan-seared duck breast, or mushroom risotto. It also pairs beautifully with delicate charcuterie and mild, aged cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a sophisticated dinner party, a romantic evening, or a special occasion where a graceful and expressive Burgundy red is desired. Its charm and finesse make it a delightful experience.
BACKGROUND
Domaine des Comtes Lafon is a wine producer in Burgundy, France, making some of the most lauded (and highly priced) white wines from Chardonnay in the region. The primary grape variety is Chardonnay, with a small portion being Pinot Noir. The estate is located in Meursault in the Côte de Beaune subregion, but has vineyards in three other villages: Chassagne-Montrachet, Volnay and Monthélie. Comtes Lafon's house and cellar were built in 1869 by the Boch family, but its reputation as a winery was most heavily influenced by Jules Lafon, who married Marie Boch in 1894.
