🏰 【The second wine of the esteemed Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, offering some of the class and purity of the grand vin, and well worth seeking out!】 La Croix de Beaucaillou 2016 is a powerful, silky, and very aromatic expression from Saint-Julien. The 2016 vintage in Saint-Julien was exceptional, described as 'almost perfect,' yielding prodigious wines with richness, ripe, velvet-textured tannins, concentration, freshness, and elegance. This wine is drinking well now but has excellent aging potential. It offers aromas of cassis, earth, black plums, black cherries, and mulberries, with hints of menthol, cigars, and crushed rocks. The palate is medium to full-bodied, lively and earthy, with firm, grainy tannins, and a long, mineral-laced finish. Expect engaging cassis, cherry, and blueberry fruit flavors, backed by a mouthwatering bramble note and a flash of roasted apple wood.
🍴 This refined Bordeaux red is superb with classic meat dishes like roasted prime rib, pan-seared duck breast, or a rich beef Wellington. It also pairs beautifully with aged Gouda or Comté cheese.
🥂 Ideal for an elegant dinner party, business entertaining, or a special family gathering. This 2016 vintage is drinking well now but will continue to evolve. Decant for 1-2 hours to allow it to breathe and soften its tannins. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
