This wine is known for its 【elegance, freshness, and aromatic richness, making it a delightful and accessible Sauternes.】
【Expect a nose with intense notes of exotic fruits such as mango and pineapple, blending perfectly with fragrances of vanilla and honey.】 On the palate, it's full-bodied with a perfect balance between roundness and liveliness, where fruit aromas unfold with intensity, accompanied by pastry and caramel notes. It features notes of candied orange peel and honey-drizzled peaches with touches of beeswax and lemon curd, with a lovely line of freshness cutting through the stone fruit layers, finishing on a spicy note.
🍴 This sweet white wine is a classic pairing for foie gras, whether pan-seared or mi-cuit. It also complements fruit tarts, crème brûlée, or blue cheeses like Roquefort. For an Asian pairing, consider a delicate almond tofu dessert or a sweet and sour pork dish.
🥂 Ideal for a dessert course at a festive dinner, a special celebration, or as an aperitif to impress guests. Its approachable style also makes it suitable for an introduction to Sauternes.
BACKGROUND
Chateau Rieussec is a wine producer located in Fargues, in the Sauternes appellation in Bordeaux. The 93 hectares (230 acres) of vineyards are planted mostly with Semillon, alongside plots of Sauvignon Blanc and a small amount of Muscadelle. The terroir in Sauternes helps the spread of Botrytis cinerea, and Rieussec's grapes are hand-harvested as they are affected by noble rot. The best bunches are used to make the grand vin, which after fermentation spends 26 months in oak, about half new. All other juice isused to make the second wine, Carmes de Rieussec, which is only aged for 18 months. A dry white wine, R de Rieussec, is made from a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc and is partially barrel-fermented.
