🏰The 2020 Laurent Ponsot Clos du Vougeot Cuvee du Cedre Grand Cru is a highly anticipated red Burgundy, crafted from a blend of eight different suppliers within the prestigious Clos de Vougeot vineyard. The 2020 vintage in Burgundy is noted for its 【ripe yet exceptionally fresh character】, with plenty of earth influence. Laurent Ponsot, often dubbed the "Tesla of Bourgogne," is known for producing wines that are both powerful and elegant. This particular cuvée is described as having a bright purple color and a very sensual, not overly powerful nose. Tasting notes highlight a ripe yet fresh bouquet of red and dark berries, with earthy undertones. The palate is detailed and medium-bodied, possessing excellent depth and a very firmly structured, youthfully austere, and powerful finish, though some warmth is noticeable. It's a wine with significant potential, requiring extended patience to fully reveal its complexities.
🍴 This powerful and structured Pinot Noir demands equally robust and refined food pairings. Consider roasted duck with cherry sauce, pan-seared venison, or a rich coq au vin. Earthy dishes like truffle pasta or mushroom-based preparations would also be exquisite. Aged Gruyère or Comté cheese would make a delightful accompaniment.
🥂 An exceptional choice for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting, or a cherished addition to a long-term cellar. This wine is designed for those who appreciate the profound evolution of fine Burgundy.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Laurent Ponsot is Laurent Ponsot who resigned from Domaine Ponsot in early 2017 and established his own business in Burgundy with his son. For his new venture, he continues to source fruit from his sharecropping arrangement with the Mercier family, which includes plots of Griotte, Chambertin and Chambolle 1er Cru “Les Charmes,” vines grown by Ponsot since 1982.
