🏰 Laurent Ponsot's 2019 Clos du Vougeot Cuvee du Cedre Grand Cru is a powerful and elegant Pinot Noir, showcasing the imposing structure typical of this Grand Cru with the aromatic finesse that characterizes Ponsot's wines. The warm and generous 2019 vintage in Burgundy produced perfectly ripe and balanced grapes, resulting in wines with depth, elegance, and complexity. This cuvee, inspired by an ancient cedar tree symbolizing strength and longevity, is crafted from vineyards cultivated without systemic chemicals, focusing on biodiversity and sustainability. It offers a deep ruby color with garnet highlights and a complex, enveloping nose of 【ripe cherry, wild berries, sweet spices, cocoa, and subtle balsamic hints】. The palate is powerful and structured, with elegant tannins, balanced freshness, and a long, persistent, harmonious finish.
🍴 This magnificent red Burgundy is ideal with premium red meats like dry-aged ribeye or roasted lamb, braised dishes, game, and aged cheeses such as Comté. For an Eastern touch, consider pairing it with Cantonese braised beef brisket or a rich Peking duck.
🥂 A superb choice for a celebratory dinner, a special occasion with fellow connoisseurs, or a significant milestone event. This wine has excellent aging potential and can be enjoyed now with generous decanting, or cellared for further development.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Laurent Ponsot is Laurent Ponsot who resigned from Domaine Ponsot in early 2017 and established his own business in Burgundy with his son. For his new venture, he continues to source fruit from his sharecropping arrangement with the Mercier family, which includes plots of Griotte, Chambertin and Chambolle 1er Cru “Les Charmes,” vines grown by Ponsot since 1982.
