FEATURES
🏰The 2007 Chateau d'Armailhac is a 【charming and approachable Pauillac from Chateau d'Armailhac in the elegant 2007 vintage】, offering a delightful balance of fruit, spice, and evolving tertiary notes. The 2007 Bordeaux vintage was generally considered lighter and more accessible, and this wine has shown improvement in recent years, making it a good entry point for enjoying a mature Pauillac. This red Bordeaux blend displays a lovely, deep garnet red color with brilliant highlights. The nose reveals attractive freshness, delicate and richly scented fruit, with red fruit aromas mingling with floral notes and a touch of clove, along with elegant, discreet oaking bringing roasted coffee notes. On the palate, it offers a velvet texture, opulent Cabernet Sauvignon, very ripe blackcurrant flavors complemented by liquorice and vanilla, supported by silky, well-rounded tannins and a long finish. Evolving notes include currant, tobacco leaf, herbs, peppery qualities, black fruit, violets, blueberry, graphite, Chinese black tea, plum sauce, warm cassis, sweaty leather, dried sage, forest floor, crushed rocks, tapenade, savory, earthy, and ferrous notes. 🍴 Chateau d'Armailhac is best served with all types of classic meat dishes, such as veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, and roast chicken, whether roasted, braised, or grilled. It also pairs well with Asian dishes, hearty fish courses like tuna, mushrooms, pasta, and a myriad of hard and soft cheeses. 🥂 Ideal for dinner parties, enjoying a mature Pauillac without needing decades of cellaring, or as a versatile wine for various culinary occasions. Serve at 15.5°C (60°F) to allow its freshness and complexity to shine.
BACKGROUND
Château d'Armailhac is a wine estate in the Pauillac appellation of the Médoc. As Mouton d'Armailhacq it was ranked as a fifth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The vineyard is located to the south of the village of le Pouyalet, immediately next to Mouton Rothschild and nearby Pontet-Canet. It covers 172 acres (70 hectares) and is planted with 52 percent Cabernet Sauvignon, 36 percent Merlot, 10 percent Cabernet Franc and 2 percent Petit Verdot. Grapes are fermented in 23 gravity-fed stainless steel vats, sized according to different parcels in the vineyard. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak; one-third new, one-third in one year old and one-third in two-year-old barrels.
