FEATURES
🏰【Domaine Francois Lamarche, located in the legendary Vosne-Romanee, is known for its prestigious vineyard holdings, including Les Suchots 1er Cru, producing Pinot Noir wines that aim to express both terroir and history with elegance and exceptional balance.】 While specific notes for the 1986 vintage of this wine are not available, the domaine has roots back to 1797 and has been on an upward swing of quality, though some older vintages from the 70s-90s received criticism. Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru wines are typically full-bodied, well-structured, and deep in color with great aging capacity. Expect a mature Pinot Noir with developed aromas of dried red fruits, forest floor, and savory notes. The palate should show elegance and a delicate nose, with a firm tannic spine that has softened over time.
🍴 Excellent with roasted poultry, game, or earthy mushroom dishes.
🥂 A special bottle for a significant anniversary, a Burgundy collector's dinner, or a moment to appreciate a mature 1er Cru. For a wine of this age, expect a more evolved profile with delicate aromas and flavors. The condition of the cork and capsule is crucial for older vintages, and careful opening is recommended.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
