FEATURES
🏰 The 1989 François Lamarche Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is a rare and mature wine from an 【exceptional Burgundy vintage】, characterized by perfectly ripened grapes and velvety tannins. It presents a deep ruby-red color with a subtle brownish glow, typical of a mature Burgundy. The complex bouquet unfolds with dried fruits like plums and figs, earthy notes of mushrooms and truffles, and hints of leather and tobacco. On the palate, it is full and soft, with an elegant structure, silky-smooth tannins, and a long, refined finish that harmoniously blends fruity and earthy flavors.
🍴 This mature Grand Cru Pinot Noir is exquisite with roasted game birds like pheasant or duck, mushroom-based dishes (especially those with truffles), coq au vin, beef bourguignon, and aged hard cheeses.
🥂 This wine is now approaching its peak drinkability and can easily hold for another 6 to 10 years, though some suggest it's for mid-term rather than long aging. It is recommended to decant for about an hour. Kindly remember that older corks and capsules can be fragile, so open with care.
BACKGROUND
François Lamarche is a historic winery located in the village of Vosne-Romanée, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir. The winery was founded in the early 20th century by Henri Lamarche and his wife, Marie Grivelet, both of whom hailed from Burgundy and had extensive experience in wine production. In 2019, the current owner, Nicole Lamarche, officially renamed the winery to Domaine Nicole Lamarche, and from the 2018 vintage onwards, the wines no longer bear the name of the former owner, François Lamarche.
