FEATURES
🏰 【Highly acclaimed with 94-95 points from top critics like James Suckling and Robert Parker, Mullineux's 2023 Granite Chenin Blanc is a testament to Swartland's unique terroir.】 This exceptional white wine hails from 47-year-old bush vines on decomposed granite soils in the high-altitude Eikelaan vineyard, known for producing wines with energy, tension, and remarkable aging capacity. The 2023 vintage in Swartland, characterized by good winter rains, a late start, and cooler evenings, fostered elevated freshness and linear aging potential. Grapes were hand-harvested on February 16, 2023, and the wine was matured for 10 months in French oak barrels before being bottled unfiltered on January 15, 2024, with only 5,846 bottles produced.
This Chenin Blanc offers a captivating nose of peaches, lime peel, apples, hazelnuts, and crushed stones, complemented by yellow citrus blossom, summer fynbos, and hints of green tea. The palate is full-bodied yet remarkably fresh and mineral-driven, showcasing a pithy, limey brightness, saline energy, and a long, dry, linear, almost chalky finish.
🍴 This versatile white wine pairs beautifully with spicy, sweet, and sour Asian cuisine, soft cheeses, seafood, and poultry. Consider it with sea bass crudo with citrus zest, goat cheese and fennel salad, or oysters with lemon granita.
🥂 Perfect for collectors and sommeliers, this elegant and expressive wine is suitable for a wide range of occasions, from a sophisticated dinner party to a casual gathering. It can be enjoyed now for its vibrant freshness or cellared for 10-20 years to appreciate its evolving complexity. Decanting is recommended to fully experience its character as it ages.
