🏰 Domaine Coche-Dury's 2013 Meursault Les Perrieres 1er Cru is a highly sought-after white Burgundy, considered one of the two high points in a comparatively challenging white Burgundy vintage. This wine is a testament to the producer's meticulous techniques, benefiting from a delayed harvest that achieved a quintessential balance of sugar and acidity. It wafts from the glass with aromas of citrus oil, crisp yellow orchard fruit, pastry cream, and toasted sesame, subtly framed by new wood. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a delicate texture, good depth, and a bright spine of acidity, concluding with a nicely defined finish. With age, tertiary notes of hazelnut cream and brioche emerge, showcasing its evolution and further maturation potential. Meursault Perrieres is often described as having a more linear, direct, and mineral intensity, akin to Puligny.
🍴 This complex and elegant white Burgundy pairs beautifully with rich white meats, fish, and shellfish, especially those prepared in cream sauces. Consider pan-seared scallops with a beurre blanc, roasted chicken with herbs, or a delicate truffle risotto.
🥂 An exceptional wine for a significant celebration, a milestone anniversary, or a serious tasting among connoisseurs. While somewhat approachable today, it is still several years away from its peak, with excellent aging potential until 2040. Serve at 12-14°C. For a wine of this age, ensure the cork is in good condition and consider decanting for 30-60 minutes to allow its complex aromas to fully unfold.
