FEATURES
🏰Often referred to as the "Petrus of Tuscany" and a 【unique definition of Merlot in Tuscany】, the 2019 Petrolo Galatrona is celebrated as one of the most beautiful and captivating versions ever made. This vintage, marking its 25th anniversary, saw a cool and wet start, but ideal conditions in late September favored elegance over structure, resulting in limited yields of exceptional quality. It's an intense, elegant wine with great structure and complexity, boasting a lovely balance between acidity, fruit, and tannins. Aromas of blackberries, black cherries, lavender, and violets lead to a palate dense with fresh plum, dark chocolate, tobacco, graphite, and mint. Full-bodied with velvety, chewy tannins, it offers vibrant, energetic fruit that is muscular yet agile, pure, and poised. Further notes include sweet, jammy blackcurrants, morello cherries, clove spice, dried tobacco leaves, sweet cassis, liquorice, and subtle clay, culminating in a long, evolving finish of black pepper, cloves, and raspberry jam.
🍴 This powerful and elegant red pairs beautifully with rich red meats like roasted lamb, beef Wellington, or wild boar ragu. It also complements aged Pecorino cheese.
🥂 A superb wine for special occasions, celebratory dinners, or a serious tasting with fellow wine enthusiasts. It has significant cellaring potential, best enjoyed after 2025. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Decanting for 1-2 hours would allow its complex aromas to fully open up.
