🏰 【From one of Burgundy's most revered producers, Georges Roumier's Ruchottes Chambertin Grand Cru 2014 is an exquisite expression from a prestigious vineyard, showcasing the winemaker's art in a nuanced vintage.】 The 2014 Burgundy vintage prioritized complexity over sheer power. This Pinot Noir offers a spicy, floral, earthy, and sauvage-inflected bouquet of red and dark currants, violets, and plums. The palate is muscular and mineral-driven, with good intensity, freshness, and fine tannins, leading to a distinctly austere yet hugely long finish, with impressive tension and salinity. It reveals vibrant red fruit juxtaposed with deeper, brooding earthy notes, and a minerality that whispers of Ruchottes' stone-laden soils.
🍴 This Grand Cru Burgundy is a magnificent pairing for game birds like duck, goose, pheasant, or partridge. It also shines with slow-roasted lamb, beef tenderloin with morels or truffles, or savory dishes with rich sauces.
🥂 A pinnacle wine for a very special celebration, a serious wine tasting, or for collectors to cellar and enjoy over decades as it gracefully evolves.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Georges Roumier is a wine producer based in the Côte de Nuits village of Chambolle-Musigny that produces some of the most expensive, best-rated and most popular wines in Burgundy. The winery did not purchase the land directly, but used the French sharecropper/lease system, in which individuals farmed the land for the owner in exchange for a certain percentage of agricultural products. Now, Christophe has taken over the work of the winery and has become the owner of the winery. The current winemaker of the village. He pays close attention to terroir, so little new oak is used, and fermentation temperatures are kept low to allow the wine’s delicious flavors and aromas to shine through.
