🏰 The 2015 vintage in the Northern Rhône was exceptional, with John Livingstone-Learmonth stating it "match[es] the best years of the 20th Century". E. Guigal's Saint-Joseph Vignes des Hospices 2015 benefits from these superb conditions, marked by timely rainfalls and high richness. This wine is described as plush and fleshy, offering red plum, orange rind, and darker fruits, with a palate featuring dark stones (granite), dark plum, and bright acidity. Expect notes of dark coal smoke, a black stone edge, and deep effortless power. It also presents dark fruit, black olive, and tarry notes, being supple, spicy, and long on the finish. 【An exceptional Northern Rhône vintage matching the best of the 20th century, offering plush fruit and effortless power.】
🍴 This powerful and complex Syrah would be an excellent match for rich, savory dishes. Consider smoked meats, cedar-planked salmon, roasted lamb with herbs, or hearty stews. For an Eastern pairing, a robust Cantonese braised beef or a spicy Sichuan hotpot would complement its depth.
🥂 Ideal for a serious wine tasting, a celebratory dinner, or as a significant addition to a cellar for future enjoyment. This wine is built to age and will reward patience.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
