🏰 The 2023 Comte Armand Auxey-Duresses is a 【vibrant and concentrated red Burgundy】, showcasing the nervous energy of this relatively lesser-known Côte de Beaune village. This Pinot Noir, from enviable mid-slope parcels, offers blackberry and blueberry fruit, initially a little muted but opening beautifully with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit and a liberal sprinkling of black pepper on the finish, promising to drink well for several years. The 1er Cru version, if applicable, would offer even more perfume and florality, with violet-infused black cherry and blueberry, rounded tannins, and a plush, precocious character.
🍴 This versatile red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with classic French bistro fare such as coq au vin, roasted chicken with herbs, or duck confit. It also complements mushroom-based dishes, grilled pork, and a selection of mild to medium-aged cheeses.
🥂 Excellent for a casual yet elegant dinner, a gathering with friends, or enjoying in its youth to appreciate its fresh, juicy character. It's a charming wine that's hard to resist.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Comte Armand is a Burgundy wine producer located in the Beaune-Cupoma region. It is famous for its Pinot Noir, especially from the estate's premier monopole vineyard, Clos de Epeneaux. Pinot. The domaine has been owned by the Armand family for nearly two centuries. During the French Revolution, the church confiscated 5 hectares (12 acres) of vineyards. For more than 100 years, the domaine consisted only of single-pole vineyards until 1994. The company was expanded in 1988 with additional plots at Volnay and later Auxey-Duresses. The winery now farms 9 hectares (22 acres) of vines organically, with an average age of 50 years and some up to 80 years old.
