🏰M. Chapoutier's Côte Rôtie La Mordorée 2007 is a highly acclaimed single-vineyard Syrah, known for its 【intense aromatics, powerful structure, and exceptional aging potential】. The 2007 vintage in Northern Rhône was good, producing wines with ripeness and balance that are often approachable earlier. Expect classic Côte Rôtie characteristics of dark fruits like blackberry and cassis, intertwined with notes of black pepper, smoked meat, violet, and olive, leading to a complex and savory profile.
🍴 This powerful Syrah is a superb match for roasted lamb, venison, or a hearty beef stew. For an Eastern pairing, consider it with a rich Cantonese roast goose or a spicy Sichuan beef hotpot. Strong, aged cheeses also complement its intensity beautifully.
🥂 An excellent choice for a special occasion, a gathering of Rhône wine lovers, or a luxurious dinner.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
