🏰The 2022 Marcel Lapierre Beaujolais is a captivating and pure expression of Gamay from Marcel Lapierre, a pioneer of the natural wine movement, offering vibrant fruit and lively acidity from the charming and approachable 2022 Beaujolais vintage. The 2022 Beaujolais vintage was small but excellent, characterized by ripe, round, and forward fruit, with intense heat concentrating the fruit and resulting in rich, flavorful wines. Marcel Lapierre, a key figure in the "Gang of Four," championed natural winemaking, including late harvesting, no herbicides, and minimal to no sulfur. This 100% Gamay, from old vines, displays a radiant ruby color with hints of violet. Expect a nose of juicy blackberry pie, ripe cherries, raspberries, strawberries, subtle floral undertones, and a touch of earthy spice. The palate is crunchy, with refreshing acidity, silky smooth tannins, a velvety texture, and a good balance of sweetness and acidity, offering a red berry-forward, easy-drinking experience.
🍴 This versatile Beaujolais is an ultimate crowd-pleaser, pairing wonderfully with a wide range of dishes from roasted game meats, grilled mushrooms, and hearty cheese platters to charcuterie, roast ham, and even spicy Thai and Chinese dishes. It's also excellent with chicken thighs braised with olive and shallot.
🥂 Perfect for casual gatherings, picnics, or as an everyday drinking wine, this Beaujolais is very approachable and enjoyable now, and can also age gracefully for several years. Serve slightly chilled at 12-14°C (54-57°F).
