BACKGROUND
Pichler-Krutzler is a highly regarded Austrian winery founded in 2006 by Elisabeth Pichler (daughter of F.X. Pichler) and Erich Krutzler. Based in the Wachau region, the estate focuses on producing terroir-driven, pure, and elegant wines without compromise. They do not use the traditional Wachau classification system (Steinfeder, Federspiel, Smaragd), preferring to let the vineyards speak for themselves. The Pfaffenberg vineyard, located in the neighboring Kremstal region, is known for its steep, rocky gneiss and granite soils. The 'Alte Reben' (old vines) Riesling from this site is characterized by intense minerality, concentrated stone fruit flavors, and a crisp, precise acidity.
