🏰The 2006 Chateau Sociando Mallet is an acclaimed over-achiever from Bordeaux, built for 20-30 years of longevity and considered a classic for long-term aging. This elegant, powerful, yet backward vintage demands patience, promising a rewarding experience for those who wait. It boasts a deep, dark color with classic aromas of black currants, graphite, and earthy undertones, often competing with intense black currant fruit. On the palate, it is structured, medium to full-bodied, and concentrated, featuring firm tannins with a sweet, enticing edge and fresh black currant acidity. 【A powerful and elegant Haut-Médoc that truly embodies the 'vin de garde' philosophy, offering impressive freshness and depth】.
🍴 This structured Bordeaux red is an excellent companion for robust dishes such as roasted red meats, lamb, and game. Its firm tannins and concentrated fruit will beautifully complement rich stews or grilled beef. Consider it for special occasions where a substantial and age-worthy wine is desired.
🥂 Ideal for a formal dinner, a significant anniversary, or a gathering of serious wine collectors, this wine is a testament to the rewards of patience and proper cellaring.
BACKGROUND
Château Sociando-Mallet is a wine estate located in the northern Médoc, and generally regarded as the equal of many classed growths. The property now covers 110ha (270 acres), of which 85ha (210 acres) are planted to vines. The main blocks are situated to the east of Saint-Seurin village around the château and estate buildings on the Baleyron hillock, a typical Médoc bank of gravel on a clay subsoil close to the Gironde estuary. Numerous other small parcels are dotted around the village. Plantings are split almost equally between Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, with just a small amount of Cabernet Franc.
