🏰 The 1999 D'Auvenay Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru is a 【highly sought-after red Burgundy Grand Cru】 from a legendary producer, representing an excellent vintage for Burgundy reds. This 27-year-old Pinot Noir, from a vintage known for good concentration and aging potential, is expected to display a complex bouquet of dark fruits, evolving into sophisticated tertiary aromas like forest floor, leather, and truffle. The palate should be structured and profound, with integrated tannins and a long, nuanced finish, showcasing the depth and elegance that D'Auvenay is renowned for.
🍴 This magnificent Grand Cru is an ideal match for classic red Burgundy pairings such as roast duck, rich game dishes, beef bourguignon, and a selection of aged, earthy cheeses. Mushroom-based dishes would also complement its evolving complexity.
🥂 A truly special wine for a connoisseur's tasting or a momentous celebration. Given its age, the cork and capsule may be fragile; open with utmost care. To fully appreciate its mature character and allow any sediment to settle, decant carefully for an hour or two before serving at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Be mindful that very old wines can sometimes fade quickly once exposed to air, so observe its evolution in the glass.
BACKGROUND
Domaine d Auvenay is a small Burgundy wine estate located in Saint-Roman. It is the third entity in the Leroy empire, named after Lalou Bize-Leroy and was previously run by her husband Marcel Bize until his death in 2004. There are 4 hectares (10 acres) of vines, but these include plots of the Grand Cru Mazis-Chambertin, Bonnes-Mares and Bâtard-Montrachet, as well as a handful of top cru vineyards, including Puligny-Montrachet Les Folatières and Meursault les Gouttes d 'Or.
