Paul Pillot, Chassagne Montrachet Clos Saint Jean Rouge 1er Cru, 2017
🏰 The 2017 Burgundy vintage was a 【return to normal, offering generous volumes and very good quality for both reds and whites】. It was a year of healthy, rot-free grapes, with red wines characterized by magnificent balance, sweet, crystalline red fruit flavors, and a soft, silky, subtle tannic mouthfeel. These wines possess incredible harmony, beautifully reflecting their terroirs, and while they have youthful charm, they are expected to evolve gracefully to show lovely complex, mature fruit characteristics. The 2017s were delicious, balanced, fully ripe, and transparent, accurately reflecting their respective terroirs.
🍴 This elegant red Burgundy pairs wonderfully with roasted poultry, pork dishes, mushroom tarts, or lighter game. Its sweet red fruit and silky tannins also make it a delightful match for charcuterie and soft, creamy cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a refined dinner with friends or a special family gathering. This wine is enjoyable now for its youthful charm and fruit, but will also reward a few more years of cellaring to develop greater complexity. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F).
