FEATURES
🏰 The 2012 S El Nido Clio hails from Jumilla in the deep south of Spain, a region known for its warm, arid climate. This vintage, a blend of 70% Monastrell (Mourvedre) and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, saw an early harvest due to prolonged drought and high temperatures, leading to grapes reaching peak ripeness by late August. The wine was aged for 24 months in new French and American oak barrels, imparting significant oak characteristics. 【A powerful, high-alcohol Monastrell blend from old vines, showcasing intense fruit and oak complexity.】
This Clio presents a very dark, opaque appearance with a garnet rim. The nose is intense with ripe fruits like cassis, fig, prune, and blackberry, interwoven with notes of resiny oak, coconut, toasted coffee, licorice, and distinctive hints of pencil shavings and cedar. On the palate, it is full-bodied, lush, and deep, with a high alcohol content of 15.5%, offering baked black-fruit flavors, coffee, chocolate, and toast on the finish.
🍴 Its robust character makes it an ideal partner for hearty red meat dishes, especially lamb.
🥂 A bold choice for a special dinner or for those who appreciate powerful, full-bodied red wines. While Wine Enthusiast suggested drinking through 2020, its developed character can still be enjoyed now for a rich and contemplative experience.
