Michel Niellon, Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru, 2022
🏰The 2022 Michel Niellon Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru is hailed as an excellent vintage for Burgundy, despite early season frost threats. This white Burgundy, from vines planted in the 1960s, is a wine of intense concentration, tension, and focus, even in the warm conditions of 2022. It offers a crisp, intense bouquet with notes of ripe apple, peach, quince, crushed limestone, red apples, and beeswax, evolving to almond and white peach. The palate is dense and well-balanced by fresh acidity, leading to a lingering finish with impressive salinity. Critics suggest it will mature extremely well in bottle, with a drinking window from 2030-2038.
🍴 This Grand Cru Chardonnay, known for its buttery and complex style, is a superb match for poultry. Consider roasted chicken or turkey, rich seafood dishes like lobster or scallops, or creamy risottos.
🥂 This is a wine for significant milestones and serious collectors. It's perfect for a grand celebration, a sophisticated tasting event, or as a centerpiece for a luxurious meal. Given its aging potential, it's also an ideal candidate for cellaring to enjoy its full evolution in the years to come.
