Francois Raveneau, Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru, 2004
🏰 The 2004 Francois Raveneau Chablis Les Butteaux 1er Cru is a testament to Chablis' aging potential, offering a 【complex interplay of minerality and evolving savory notes】 from a mature vintage. While specific vintage reports for this exact bottling are limited, 2004 in Chablis generally produced wines with good acidity and structure, allowing them to age gracefully. Raveneau is celebrated for crafting Chablis that truly expresses its terroir with precision and depth.
Tasting notes for a Chablis 1er Cru of this age would likely reveal a golden hue, with aromas of wet stones, oyster shell, honeyed citrus, and subtle hints of mushroom or truffle, alongside a lingering freshness. The palate would be dry, with a pronounced minerality, vibrant acidity, and a long, saline finish, showcasing the elegance and complexity that develops over time.
🍴 This mature Chablis is an exquisite match for rich seafood dishes such as roasted lobster, pan-seared foie gras, or creamy seafood pasta. It also pairs beautifully with aged goat cheese or even a delicate chicken terrine. For an Asian twist, consider steamed crab with ginger and spring onion or a refined abalone dish.
🥂 Ideal for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated tasting of aged white wines, or an intimate gathering where fine, mature Chablis is appreciated.
