🏰 The 2007 vintage for white Burgundy, particularly in Beaune, was characterized by an early maturity and a beautiful freshness. Joseph Drouhin's Beaune Clos des Mouches Blanc 1er Cru 2007 is an outstanding wine, known for its complex floral nose of white lilac and white rose, evolving into grilled hazelnut and almond notes as it matures. The palate is well-balanced with green fruits, honeysuckle, and a lovely vibrancy. It exhibits great precision and a silky texture. 【 An outstanding wine with great precision 】. This wine was aged in oak barrels, with 20-25% new oak, for 16 to 18 months.
🍴 This elegant white Burgundy pairs wonderfully with fish and poultry dishes. Its vibrant acidity and mineral notes would complement rich seafoood, such as pan-seared scallops or lobster, as well as creamy chicken dishes. Consider pairing it with a delicate roasted turbot or a classic Bresse chicken with cream sauce.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special anniversary celebration, this wine is a testament to the aging potential of fine white Burgundy. It's also a superb choice for a connoisseur's tasting, showcasing the nuances of a mature 1er Cru.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
