🏰 Bizot's Echezeaux Grand Cru 2014 represents a highly sought-after expression from a Burgundy producer renowned for his biodynamic practices and extremely limited production. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy for red wines was generally characterized by freshness, purity of fruit, and good acidity, with wines showing elegance and potential for graceful aging. Bizot's wines are known for their unique character, often displaying a delicate touch, vibrant red fruit, and earthy minerality, reflecting a minimalist winemaking approach. 【A rare and highly individual biodynamic Grand Cru from a cult producer】.
🍴 This exquisite red Burgundy, with its delicate yet complex profile, pairs beautifully with refined dishes. Think roasted fowl like guinea fowl or pigeon, delicate game birds, or pan-seared duck breast with a berry reduction. It also complements mushroom-based dishes, truffle pasta, or a fine selection of aged, mild cheeses. For an Eastern pairing, consider a subtly spiced Cantonese steamed fish or a delicate Japanese wagyu beef preparation.
🥂 This is a wine for special occasions, intimate dinners, or serious Burgundy tasting sessions. Its rarity and unique style make it a conversation starter and a true collector's item, best enjoyed in a setting where its nuances can be fully appreciated.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Jean Yves Bizot is a small Burgundy wine producer located in the Côte de Nuits, making Pinot Noir on several small plots of the Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru vineyard and the Grand Cru chézeaux vineyard. It also produces small amounts of Chardonnay at the village and Burgundy Blanc levels, and has plots in Massanai and Burgundy Chapit. The total area of the estate is just over three hectares. The current incarnation of the domaine was founded in 1995, when Jean Yves Bizot, a professor of oenology, inherited the domaine and vineyards from his family and followed a largely unconventional winemaking process.
