🏰Reichsrat von Buhl's 2017 Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Grosses Gewächs is an "excellent Riesling with a long life ahead" from a challenging German vintage that nonetheless produced "powerful wines" with "great expressiveness and a diamond-like brightness" from top Pfalz estates. This renowned producer is known for its dry Rieslings from premier vineyards. The 2017 vintage, despite spring frosts, yielded outstanding dry Rieslings in the best Pfalz sites.
🍴 This Riesling is described as "tight, austere, bone dry, no sweetness, saline", offering a "beautiful decadent nose, nutty, buttery, brioche, white fruit" with "high acidity" and a "medium to long finish." Expect "crunchy yellow peach and lemon juxtapose piquant notes of spice and dusty mineral in this rich, rippling dry wine." It's full-bodied and intensely concentrated, balanced by zesty lime acidity and a cooling mineral edge. This versatile wine pairs wonderfully with pork, shellfish, poultry, spicy food, and cured meats.
🥂 An ideal choice for a sophisticated summer gathering, an aperitif, or a diverse meal where its vibrant acidity can cut through richness. It is drinkable now but is expected to improve through 2030 and hold much longer.
