🏰 The 1995 vintage in Burgundy was generally very good, despite some tricky weather conditions early in the season. A mixed spring with intermittent hail delayed flowering, but a hot and dry summer followed, leading to good growing conditions. September was cooler and overcast with some rain, but thick skins and a lack of heat prevented rot. Yields were extremely low for both red and white wines. For reds like this Pommard, the vintage offered good color and ripe tannins, with a red-fruit character similar to 1993, but with softer acidity and tannin, akin to 1985. Some wines from more elegant appellations even drew parallels to the excellent 1978s. This Jean Garaudet Pommard 1995 is expected to be well-built, powerful, and muscular, with a chewy body. It can display rich roasted coffee bean, plum, leather, animal, earth, and oak scents, offering marvelous complexity and fine, dry, earthy, coffee, and spicy flavors. 【 A voluptuous and interesting wine with good aging potential. 】
🍴 This robust red Burgundy would be an excellent match for classic meat dishes such as roasted duck, goose, or other game birds. It also pairs beautifully with strong soft-centred cheeses and blue cheeses, which can complement its powerful flavors and intense aromas.
🥂 Ideal for a sophisticated dinner party or a special celebration where a mature, complex red wine is desired. Its firm structure and aging potential make it suitable for a vertical tasting or a gathering of serious wine enthusiasts.
