🏰 The 2013 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Pavillon is a 【star of the vintage, offering sensational depth and a liquid rock-like character】 that truly expresses its unique terroir. This full-bodied Syrah boasts an awesome bouquet of cassis, smoked earth, graphite, and caramelized meats, with a dense, massive palate and sweet tannins leading to a blockbuster finish. It's a serious wine with incredible balance and length, built for long-term cellaring.
🍴 This powerful and structured red wine demands equally robust food pairings. It's an excellent match for lamb, especially roasted rack of lamb or a rich lamb stew. Other ideal pairings include venison, wild boar, or a hearty beef Wellington. For a more adventurous pairing, consider dishes with truffles or smoked meats.
🥂 Perfect for a milestone celebration, a serious wine tasting event, or as a prized addition to a collector's cellar, promising decades of evolution.
BACKGROUND
Maison M. Chapoutier is one of the most recognizable producers in the Rhône Valley. It is known for its wines from both the north and south of the valley, but in particular for its red and white Hermitage wines, made from Syrah and a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne, respectively.Outside of the flagship vineyards in Hermitage, Chapoutier has vineyards across the Rhône, including plots in Côte Rôtie, Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Condrieu. These span both single-vineyard expressions and generic AOC-level wines. Chapoutier also makes regional Côtes du Rhône wines, and has viticultural interests in Australia (Domaine Tournon), Portugal and Alsace.
