🏰 The 2023 Douro vintage was exceptional, benefiting from abundant winter rainfall, followed by a dry, mild spring and ample May-June rains. July temperatures remained near-normal or slightly below, with minimal July-August rain, fostering balanced acidity, maturation, and phenolic ripeness. Ideal early September showers kicked off the harvest, yielding exceptional wines. Quinta do Vesuvio has declared its 2023 Vintage Port, a testament to the outstanding quality of the year. Tasting notes describe charming aromas of lavender and rock rose (or rosemary), complemented by hints of black olives, resiny scents, dried herbs, praline, and coffee. The palate is prodigious, generous, and full of satisfying red and black fruit flavors, with a streak of acidity amplifying the intensity and precision of the wine's ample structure. 【A declared Vintage Port from an exceptional 2023 Douro harvest, promising great aging potential and a classic, monumental character】.
🍴 This young Vintage Port is a classic pairing for rich chocolate desserts and robust blue cheeses.
🥂 As a newly declared Vintage Port, this wine is primarily for long-term cellaring, ideal for celebrating a birth year, a future milestone, or as an investment in a wine with immense aging potential. It will require many years to reach its full expression.
