FEATURES
🏰 The 2005 Clos du Marquis from Château Léoville-Las Cases is a magnificent Bordeaux red, originating from a truly fantastic vintage that delivered great quality across the board. Created in 1902, Clos du Marquis comes from great terroirs of the Saint-Julien appellation, distinct from the former Léoville estate, and is surrounded by prestigious Classified Growths. This wine is often considered to be on par with many 3rd, 4th, and 5th Growths, showcasing typical Saint-Julien characteristics of structure, complexity, balance, distinction, and great aging potential. The 2005 vintage itself was marked by a dry and rather cold winter, a warm and sunny spring, and ideal summer conditions that resulted in very concentrated and perfectly balanced grapes. This particular vintage is described as majestic, saturated with aromas of oak, tobacco, and blackcurrant. On the palate, it offers delectable cassis, blackberry, and licorice flavors with a silky texture and smooth, fine-grained tannins. Expect notes of lead pencil, ripe cherries, black currants, earth, and vanillin, with a rich, concentrated, and powerful profile that has terrific depth of fruit. It's evolving into a beautiful wine, with an opulent, sexy bouquet of macerated dark cherries, briary, mint, and candied orange peel, leading to a long, gloriously fanning finish. 【 A Saint-Julien powerhouse, often rivaling classified growths, from the exceptional 2005 vintage. 】
🍴 This robust and elegant Bordeaux is an ideal companion for rich, savory dishes. It pairs wonderfully with lamb, game, and blue cheese. Consider classic pairings like beef stew, Osso Bucco, Coq Au Vin, or various roasts and steaks.
🥂 An excellent choice for a formal dinner, a special celebration, or a significant wine tasting event. This wine has superb aging potential and is drinking beautifully now, but will continue to evolve and impress over the next 10-15 years, with some suggesting it can last until 2035.
