FEATURES
🏰 Tessa Maria Sprenger is a rising talent in German winemaking, reinterpreting classic varieties with a lighter touch and focus on terroir expression. The 2024 Haidegrün Müller-Thurgau is sourced from the Haidegrün site in Baden, known for its cool continental climate and well-drained soils, ideal for preserving freshness. The grapes are from the winery's oldest vines, planted in 1955, on calcareous clay soil with a north-west orientation. The winemaking focuses on a gentle, low-intervention approach, with cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks and short maturation on fine lees to maintain purity of fruit. The name "Haidegrün" is a tribute to the nearby heath landscape and the lessor Heide, combined with the fresh green of Müller-Thurgau.
In the glass, it is pale straw with green reflections, signaling its youth and vibrancy. The nose is delicately expressive, offering notes of white blossom, elderflower, green pear, crisp apple, hints of citrus zest, and a gentle herbal twist. It also shows characteristic, fresh, and lively aromas of green apple, unripe peach, citrus fruits, floral notes of grass, meadow, and fine herbs, complemented by spicy, muscat-like, and nutty notes. On the palate, it is light to medium-bodied, very clean and precise, with juicy orchard fruit, lemon, and a subtle grapey charm. A fine, refreshing acidity and a touch of minerality provide structure and length, making it mouthwatering rather than sweet or heavy. It has a crisp, lively acidity, clear citrus and stone fruit, a fine mineral undertone, and a subtle phenolic reminiscent of white tea. 【 A new wave German Müller-Thurgau from 1955-planted vines, showcasing characterful terroir expression with a precise, mineral edge. 】
🍴 This Müller-Thurgau is a versatile food partner, especially well-suited to light, fragrant dishes. Think fresh goat cheese, soft-rind cheeses, simple seafood (grilled prawns, steamed mussels), sushi, summer salads with citrus or herbs, and lightly spiced Asian cuisine such as Vietnamese or Thai.
🥂 This wine is designed for drinking in its youth, ideally within the first 2–3 years after the vintage, while its floral aromatics and lively fruit are at their peak. Perfect for casual gatherings, summer parties, or as an aperitif.
