FEATURES
The 2008 vintage in Champagne was notably cool and less sunny, leading to a slow and steady grape maturation that resulted in intense, elegant, and beautifully structured fruit. Krug 2008, affectionately nicknamed "Classic Beauty" by the House's Tasting Committee, spent 12 years in the cellars, allowing it to gain remarkable expression, harmony, and finesse before its release. This exceptional Champagne is a blend of 53% Pinot Noir, 25% Meunier, and 22% Chardonnay.
Upon sight, it reveals an intense and brilliant golden hue. The nose is expressive, rich, and ample, offering captivating aromas of honey, licorice, menthol, orange peel, and grapefruit. On the palate, it is vivacious, intense, and harmonious, showcasing great tension and a complex array of flavors including quince, candied fruits, citrus, yellow kiwi, star fruit, honey, apple tart, butter cookies, orange peel, peony, and fennel, all underpinned by floral and menthol notes. The finish is long, balanced, and precise, with an astounding structure. Some critics have described a "supernova of sensation" with each sip, driven by mouthwatering acidity and notes of ripe black currant, Mandarin orange peel, grilled nut, candied ginger, briny oyster shell, verbena, and ground cardamom spice. It is currently tightly wound and vibrant, indicating significant aging potential.
