【An outstanding and still remarkably youthful expression, the 1999 Trapet Latricieres Chambertin Grand Cru is a testament to the longevity and profound complexity of this cooler, more somber Grand Cru site.】 The 1999 Latricieres-Chambertin from Jean-Louis Trapet is outstanding and quite a bit younger in profile than the completely à point 2000 vintage. This site is known to be cooler and more somber than Chapelle-Chambertin, needing time to show its depth. It is expected to catch and surpass the 2000 Latricieres in due course. The superb nose is still fairly primary, pure, and sappy, jumping from the glass with a blend of cassis, dark berries, Cuban cigar, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, graphite, and a generous serving of toasty oak. On the palate, the wine is deep, full-bodied, and plush at the core, with lovely density, soil signature, ripe, seamless tannins, impeccable balance, and a long, nascently complex and potentially opulent finish. Expect musky aromas of red fruits, coffee, and earth, with a sweet and gamey character.

This elegant red 布根地 (Burgundy) pairs beautifully with roasted duck with plum sauce, pan-seared foie gras, wild mushroom risotto, or a classic coq au vin. For Western cuisine, consider roasted lamb with herbs or game birds like pheasant.

Ideal for a special anniversary dinner, a sophisticated gathering of wine lovers, or as a prized addition to a serious cellar. This wine is a fantastic example of a mature Grand Cru. For this 1999 vintage, expect a wine that has developed tertiary aromas and a softer tannin structure. It's advisable to stand the bottle upright for a few days before opening to allow any sediment to settle. Decanting for 30-60 minutes can help the wine open up and shed any initial reductive notes, but be mindful of very old wines as too much air can diminish delicate aromas. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). Be prepared for a potentially fragile cork and consider using an Ah-So opener.
