Joseph Drouhin, Montrachet Marquis De Laguiche Grand Cru, 2006
🏰 The 2006 Joseph Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru is an "authentic masterpiece", lauded for its breadth and richness, with low acidity and immense charm. This vintage is noted for its complexity and harmonious character, reflecting eight surgical passes over the vineyard during harvest. On the nose, expect a splendid golden sheen and a multitude of aromas including floral notes of lily of the valley, peach blossom, exotic fruit, honey, grilled almonds, and even exotic woods. The palate is dominated by a harmonious roundness that never feels heavy, leading to an exceptionally long finish that enhances its finesse.
🍴 This majestic white Burgundy pairs beautifully with the best fish and shellfish dishes, such as lobster or crabmeat in a light wine sauce, or simply grilled or poached salmon, trout, or Dover sole. It also complements refined seafood, grilled noble fish, and poultry with cream sauce.
🥂 Perfect for a celebratory dinner or a special occasion where a truly exceptional white wine is desired. Its complexity and richness make it ideal for thoughtful contemplation. Serve at 13-15°C (55-59°F) to allow its full aromatic profile to unfold. This wine has excellent aging potential, developing its famous complexity and richness after a few years in the bottle.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
