FEATURES
🏰 The 1992 vintage was a very good year for white Burgundy, yielding a large crop of well-balanced wines with lovely aromatics. Joseph Drouhin's Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Grand Cru 1992 is an authentic masterpiece, often regarded as the yardstick by which other Burgundies should be judged. It displays a splendid golden sheen and a multitude of aromas, including floral notes of lily of the valley and peach blossom, exotic fruit, honey, grilled almonds, exotic woods, russet apple, quince, hazelnut, praline, truffle, and a mineral and saline backbone. The palate offers harmonious roundness without heaviness, an exceptionally long finish, and remarkable finesse. At 34 years old, this wine is mature, showing rich, dense, ripe apple, pear, caramelized notes, mint, spice, lemon peel, and butterscotch. Some tasters note a pleasant, mature oxidation, adding to its complexity. 【 Largest parcel of Montrachet vineyard, owned by Laguiche family since 1776, cultivated by Drouhin since 1947 】 🥂 This is a wine for a truly special occasion, a momentous celebration, or a profound tasting experience. It's a privilege to taste such an aged Grand Cru. Serving Advice for this Aged Wine: This 1992 Montrachet is a venerable wine, and while it promises a glorious symphony of sensations, it should be handled with utmost care. Stand the bottle upright for several days before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Given its age, the cork may be fragile; consider using an Ah-So opener or a Durand to minimize the risk of breakage. Decanting is recommended to separate any sediment and allow the wine to breathe, but do so gently and monitor its evolution closely, as very old wines can fade quickly once exposed to air. Serve it slightly chilled, ideally between 14-15°C (57-60°F), to best appreciate its complex bouquet and structure. 🍴 This magnificent white Burgundy pairs exquisitely with grilled noble fish, refined seafood, lobster Thermidor, or roasted chicken and turkey.
BACKGROUND
Joseph Drouhin is one of Burgundy's most important wine producers, France. The primary grape variety is Pinot Noir, with a small portion being Chardonnay. Founded in Beaune in 1880, the domaine has expanded throughout the 20th Century to include vineyards in Chablis, the Côte de Nuits, the Côte de Beaune and the Côte Chalonnaise, making everything from simple, village-level cuvées to highly priced grand cru and premier cru wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
