🏰 Gerard Schueller's 2019 Le Chant des Oiseaux Alsace is a 【fine Pinot Noir that, when tasted blind, has been likened to a Nuits-Saint-Georges】, showcasing the ambition of this biodynamic domaine. This cuvée, often made in magnum from a tiny parcel of 50-year-old vines in the Pfersigberg Grand Cru, offers an expressive and detailed bouquet of white flowers, citrus zest, crisp apple, and stone fruits, with hints of wet stone and gentle herbal nuances. On the palate, it's lively and precise, balancing juicy fruit with taut acidity, revealing flavors of lemon, pear, and white peach over a saline, mineral backbone. The texture is silky yet incisive, leading to a long, vibrating finish.
🍴 This versatile Alsace white (or light red, given it's Pinot Noir) pairs beautifully with seafood and shellfish like oysters and grilled fish, light poultry dishes, veal with cream or citrus-based sauces, and fresh goat's cheese. Its aromatic finesse and minerality also make it suitable for Asian-inspired cuisine with moderate spice.
🥂 Ideal for refined aperitifs, gastronomic dinners focused on seafood, or contemplative tastings where its nuances can be fully appreciated. Its purity and vivacity make it a fantastic choice for gatherings with discerning wine lovers.
