🏰 The 2006 Chapoutier Agly Brothers Cote Roussillon Villages is a 【concentrated and lush red wine from a unique collaboration】 between Michel Chapoutier and Jasper Hill's Ron Laughton. This biodynamically farmed wine, typically a blend of Syrah and Grenache, comes from the rugged Agly Valley with schist soils over limestone. The 2006 Roussillon vintage saw a cold winter and spring frosts, followed by a hot and sunny period until August, with September bringing warm, bright conditions to balance the earlier dampness.
🍴 This rich and intense red offers notes of black cherry and berry, baking spice, toast, and cigar tobacco, with an herbal accent. The palate is velvety and filling, with good grip and a solid structure. It pairs beautifully with lamb, roasted meats, and hard cheeses.
🥂 Excellent for a hearty dinner with friends, a barbecue, or a casual gathering where a robust and flavorful red is desired. Its intensity makes it a great companion for flavorful cuisine.
Serving: Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F). While some 2006 Loire reds might be past their best, this Roussillon, with its inherent concentration and structure, could still be drinking well. Decanting for 30-60 minutes is recommended to allow its complex aromas to fully express themselves.
