🏰 【The rare and powerful 2003 Krug Vintage Champagne, a testament to a challenging yet ultimately triumphant year, offers an extraordinary expression of richness, intensity, and a unique aromatic profile shaped by the extreme heat of the vintage】. The 2003 vintage was marked by an exceptionally hot summer, leading to a Champagne of remarkable ripeness and concentration. Expect this Krug Vintage to display a profound depth of flavor, with notes of dried fruits, toasted brioche, honey, nuts, and citrus confit. The palate is full-bodied and powerful, yet retains Krug's signature elegance and complexity, with a long, evolving finish.
🍴 Chinese Cantonese food pairing: This opulent Champagne is perfect with luxurious dishes such as roasted capon or guinea fowl, pan-fried foie gras, or aged Parmesan cheese. For a Cantonese pairing, consider crispy skin suckling pig or a rich seafood bird's nest soup. Truffle dishes or lobster thermidor would also be exquisite.
🥂 fit for event suggestion: Ideal for grand celebrations, milestone anniversaries, or luxurious gastronomic experiences. It's a Champagne designed for contemplation and profound enjoyment.
BACKGROUND
Krug is one of Champagne's most prestigious houses and its wines are among the most collectible and expensive in Champagne. The house was founded in 1843 by Joseph Krug, a native of the Mosel region in Germany, who had moved to France and spent some time working for Jacquesson, the leading Champagne house of the time. Krug's philosophy was that every Champagne should be the best possible expression, and eschewed the common idea of a hierarchy of Champagne. Instead, he began to craft a premium wine from a reserve of wines vinified separately by the growers themselves, a wine that would eventually become the Grande Cuvée.
