Henri Boillot, Hospices De Beaune Corton Charlemagne Cuvee Francois De Salins Grand Cru, 2006
🏰 The 2006 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru from Henri Boillot hails from an intriguing and perplexing Burgundy vintage, yet stands out with a dignified grace, showcasing a masterful blend of 【vibrant acidity with layers of plush fruit, suggesting pears and citrus seamlessly balanced against an almost crystalline minerality】. The vintage was quite powerful and rather warm for Burgundy, making this wine a testament to skillful winemaking.
🍴 This powerful and elegant white Burgundy is a superb match for shellfish, lobster, foie gras, and various fish dishes. It also pairs wonderfully with roasted chicken or turkey, and a selection of mature cheeses.
🥂 An ideal choice for special occasions or a sophisticated dinner, this wine is already harmonious but will benefit from a few more years to reach its peak and fully express its complexity.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Henri Boillot is a wine producer based in Meursault, France, is renowned for its red and white wines from Côtes de Beaune appellations. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the primary grape varieties featured. The estate was named Domaine Jean Boillot until 2005, but was changed when Henri Boillot bought out his siblings in order to distinguish it from his brother's new Domaine Jean-Marc Boillot. Henri had previously set up Maison Henri Boillot for négociant wines and retains these labels to distinguish them from estate wines.
