🏰 The 2008 Les Forts de Latour is a 【strong effort, showcasing dark ruby/purple color and more minerality than the 2010 vintage】. This forward and pure wine boasts remarkably sweet tannins and is expected to age gracefully for another 10-15 years, possibly longer.
It presents a vivacious, almost exotic bouquet of macerated dark cherries, kirsch, dried orange peel, and a hint of mint. The palate offers a sweet, succulent entry with good substance, revealing black fruit, white pepper, graphite, and bell pepper, leading to a poised, minty finish. Flavors of cassis, black cherries, and a trace of chocolate blend with earthy and cedar notes.
🍴 This wine pairs perfectly with rich, structured dishes such as roasted red meats, game, and mature cheeses. It's also an excellent match for classic meat dishes like veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, roast chicken, and even Asian cuisine.
🥂 An exceptional wine, perfect for a grand celebration or a connoisseur's tasting, offering elegance and controlled power. It is drinking beautifully today.
BACKGROUND
Chateau Latour is one of Bordeaux's wines and the world's most famous wine producers. It is situated in the southeast corner of the Pauillac commune on the border of Saint- Julien, in the Medoc region. Typically for the region, Cabernet Sauvignon dominates in the vineyard, accounting for around 80 percent of plantings. Merlot makes up most of the remainder, and there are also small amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The grand vin is only made from the vineyard plots surrounding the chateau and shown on the 1759 plan of the domaine. Latour makes two other wines: Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour, both of which are made from younger vines.
