🏰 Montirius Gigondas Terre des Aines 2014 is a biodynamically farmed wine from Gigondas, known for its 【authentic expression of Southern Rhône terroir and impressive aging capability】. The 2014 vintage in the Southern Rhône was challenging but produced some very good wines, especially from dedicated producers like Montirius who focus on organic and biodynamic practices. This wine, typically a blend of Grenache and Syrah, offers a rich and savory profile, with notes of dark berries, garrigue, black pepper, and a hint of licorice, underpinned by firm tannins and a fresh acidity that promises longevity.
🍴 This robust Gigondas is a perfect match for hearty Mediterranean cuisine. Think slow-cooked lamb shoulder with herbs, grilled steak with Provençal vegetables, wild boar ragu, or a rich lentil stew. Its spicy and earthy notes also complement strong, aged cheeses.
🥂 An excellent choice for a rustic yet refined dinner, a gathering with friends who appreciate Rhône wines, or a special occasion that calls for a wine with character and depth. It's drinking beautifully now but will continue to evolve over the next few years. Serve at 16-18°C (60-64°F) after decanting for at least an hour.
BACKGROUND
Montirius is a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in the Southern Rhone. The Terre des Aines Gigondas is made from old-vine Grenache and Mourvedre, aged entirely in concrete vats to preserve the purity of fruit and the expression of the terroir.
