🏰 The 2023 vintage in Burgundy saw a hot and dry growing season, yet significant June rains helped the vines, leading to a concentrated vintage with ripe fruit profiles. This Vincent Girardin Volnay 1er Cru Santenots 2023 is a 【promising young Burgundy, showcasing a finely delineated mixture of redcurrant and wild strawberry with subtle incense aromas and a succulent, precise palate】. Expect spicy notes, lovely red fruit like cherry, enhanced by sweet spices such as cinnamon, leading to an opulent and complex finish with a beautiful, melted structure.
🍴 This elegant Volnay pairs beautifully with finely prepared red meats, game birds, or dishes in a red wine sauce. It also complements lighter meats like roasted duck breast, seared scallops, grilled lamb, or classic cheeses such as Brie, Chaource, Reblochon, or aged cheddar.
🥂 An excellent wine for cellaring to allow its complexities to unfold, or for a special dinner where a youthful, vibrant red Burgundy is desired.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Vincent Girardin was founded by Vincent Girardin, who hails from the village of Santenay and comes from a family of winemakers. Passionate about wine, Vincent inherited the family's two-hectare vineyard and established the winery in 1994, sourcing grapes only from growers who shared his philosophy. The primary grape varieties are Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. In 2001, the winery moved from Santenay to Meursault. In 2012, Vincent decided to sell the winery to La Compagnie des Vins d’Autrefois, and it is now managed by Eric Germain and Marco Caschera.
