🏰 The 2020 vintage for Brunello di Montalcino is highly anticipated, with early reports suggesting a promising year for Sangiovese in Tuscany. Salicutti, known for its commitment to organic and biodynamic practices, is expected to deliver a Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione that truly expresses its terroir. While specific tasting notes for the 2020 are still emerging, Brunello wines typically offer a complex bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, black raspberry, chocolate, leather, and violet. They are known for their robust, harmonious, and full-bodied character, with firm tannins and bright acidity that promise excellent aging potential. 【 Organic and biodynamic practices 】
🍴 Brunello di Montalcino is a meat lover's dream, pairing exquisitely with hearty red meats and game dishes such as slow-braised beef, wild boar ragu, roasted lamb, or venison stew. It also complements richly seasoned pasta dishes like pappardelle with wild boar ragout or pici, and mushroom or truffle-based risottos. For cheese enthusiasts, aged Pecorino Toscano, Parmigiano-Reggiano, or Pecorino di Pienza matured in barrique are unmissable experiences.
🥂 This Brunello is perfect for special occasions and gourmet dining, such as an elegant dinner party featuring a Florentine steak or a celebratory meal with friends and family. Its depth and character make it ideal for moments that call for a truly exceptional Italian red.
BACKGROUND
Podere Salicutti was the first estate in Montalcino to receive organic certification. Founded by Francesco Leanza and now owned by the Eichbauer family, it is renowned for its terroir-transparent, elegant style. 'Piaggione' is one of their single-vineyard Brunellos, known for its excellent sun exposure. The wine is a masterclass in finesse, offering pure Sangiovese aromas of bright cherry, floral notes, and crushed rocks, supported by silky tannins and vibrant acidity.
