🏰 The 2008 E. Guigal La Mouline from Côte-Rôtie is a highly acclaimed wine, often described as a 'feminine wine with finessed, silky texture and intense aroma'. The blend typically consists of 89% Syrah and 11% Viognier from 75-year-old vines grown on terraced vineyards. Despite some initial skepticism about the vintage, this wine has shown remarkable development. It reveals a nose of red and black berries with violet, leading to a balanced palate reverberating with fruit and floral tones, and a fine mineral finish. Critics have noted alluring aromas and flavors of steeped currant, dark truffle, roasted apple wood, and espresso, backed by charcoal and ganache notes. It's a wine that caught tasters off guard with its incredible fruit, balance, freshness, and depth. 【 An alluring Côte-Rôtie with a feminine touch and remarkable depth 】.
🍴 This complex and aromatic Côte-Rôtie is an excellent partner for roasted lamb, game birds like pheasant or duck, and rich beef dishes. Its floral and spicy notes also complement dishes with herbs de Provence. For an Eastern pairing, consider a five-spice roasted duck or a rich, slow-cooked beef stew.
🥂 The 2008 La Mouline is perfect for a celebratory dinner, a special anniversary, or a serious wine tasting. It's a wine that demands attention and rewards patience, making it ideal for a memorable occasion with discerning palates.
BACKGROUND
E Guigal is one of the most famous wine producers in the Rhône. The company was founded in 1946 by Etienne Guigal in Ampuis on the west bank of the Rhone, just a stone's throw from the famous sun-baked slopes of the Côte Rôtie. Guigard's flagship wines are the famous "LaLa": La Landonne, La Mouline and La Turque. La Landonne is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines and aged in oak barrels for a similar amount of time.
