FEATURES
🏰 The 1994 Ramonet Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is a 【rare and esteemed white Burgundy from a highly regarded Grand Cru vineyard】, known for its elegance and finesse. While specific vintage reports for this exact wine are scarce, the 1994 Burgundy vintage for white wines was generally considered good, producing charming and approachable wines with solid aging potential. Expect a complex bouquet that has evolved beautifully over time, revealing notes of dried fruits, honey, toasted nuts, and perhaps hints of mushroom or truffle, layered over a fading core of citrus and floral aromas. The palate should be rich and full-bodied, with a creamy texture, balanced acidity that has softened with age, and a long, savory finish. Given its age, it will undoubtedly showcase delightful tertiary aromas and flavors. 🍴 This aged white Burgundy is a magnificent partner for rich, savory dishes such as roasted poultry, luxurious seafood preparations like lobster thermidor, or earthy mushroom-based dishes. It also pairs wonderfully with aged Comté or Gruyère cheese. 🥂 A truly exceptional and rare treat for connoisseurs, this wine is perfect for a very special anniversary or a celebratory dinner where an aged, complex white Burgundy is desired. For a wine of this venerable age, expect a beautifully evolved profile with rich, complex tertiary aromas and flavors. Handle the cork and capsule with extreme care. Decanting might be beneficial to remove any potential sediment and allow the wine to open up, but proceed cautiously, as very old wines can be fragile and fade with excessive aeration. Serve slightly cooler than room temperature, ideally around 12-14°C, to best appreciate its intricate layers.
BACKGROUND
Domaine Ramonet is a prominent wine producer in the Burgundy appellations of Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, France. Ramonet owns more than 15 hectares (37 acres) of vineyards. The primary grape variety is Chardonnay, with a small amount of Pinot Noir also planted. The estate's most important wines are made from Chardonnay from the area's grand cru vineyards, and are highly collectible, often selling for high prices at auction. Domaine Ramonet makes several red wines from Pinot Noir as well. Domaine Ramonet is now run by Noël and Jean-Claude Ramonet, following the death of their father Pierre in the mid-1990s.
