【A true McLaren Vale expression of a Rhône blend, showcasing the unique ironstone terroir and built for impressive aging potential.】 The 2019 d'Arenberg The Ironstone Pressings is a McLaren Vale style Rhône blend, with vineyards impregnated with ancient, decomposed laterite granite known as ironstone. The 2019 vintage saw a dry winter, strong winds during flowering, and a hot summer, resulting in lower yields but excellent quality. The wine is fermented in concrete, then basket pressed to new and used French oak barriques, aged on lees without racking, fining, or filtration. It presents a deep magenta color with aromas of dusty earth, aniseed, cloves, chocolate, black olives, leather, sweet dark cherries, and exotic Indian spice. The palate is bursting with rich blackberries, blackcurrants, Dutch licorice, plum skins, and a savoury, tannic edge, supported by brick dust tannins and a lively acidity.
