Marcel Deiss, Alsace Gruenspiel Le Jeu Des Verts, 2022
🏰 The 2022 vintage in Alsace was a hot and dry year, yet it was saved by intermittent storms, preventing severe drought. It proved to be an excellent year for dry wines, particularly Riesling and Pinot Noir, yielding concentrated, luminous wines with expressive and juicy fruit flavors. Growers were pleased with decent yields.
Marcel Deiss's Alsace Gruenspiel Le Jeu des Verts 2022 is a unique co-plantation orange wine. It displays a salmon-orange color with a clear, elegant, and aromatic nose of redcurrant and other red berries. On the palate, it is dry, very intense, and powerful, with a pleasing bitterness (almost like Campari), dense complexity, and a very long finish. This orange wine possesses a red-wine character with fine tannins, offering pure notes of white peach, quince, and ripe kumquat, structured by vibrant acidity and gentle tannins.
🍴 This bold and complex wine is an excellent match for rich stews, spicy charcuterie, and bold cheeses. It also pairs well with Vitello Tonnato, fish stew in saffron sauce, and spicy vegetable curries.
🥂 A distinctive choice for adventurous wine lovers, this wine is perfect for gastronomic events featuring rich or spicy cuisine, or as a conversation starter at a dinner party, showcasing its 【delightfully complex and mouthwatering orange wine character with fine tannins from a co-plantation vineyard】.
