FEATURES
🏰 The 1985 Henri Jayer Vosne Romanee Les Brulees is a legendary and exceptionally rare wine, representing the pinnacle of Burgundy winemaking from one of its most revered figures. 【Henri Jayer's wines are celebrated for their unparalleled purity, elegance, and profound expression of terroir, making them highly sought-after by collectors worldwide.】 The 1985 vintage in Burgundy was generally considered very good, producing wines with excellent balance and aging potential. While specific, recent tasting notes for this exact bottle are scarce due to its extreme rarity, a well-preserved 1985 Les Brulees would likely exhibit a complex bouquet of dried red fruits, forest floor, truffle, exotic spices, and a hint of rose petals, evolving into savory notes of game and leather. The palate would be silky and ethereal, with remarkable depth, integrated tannins, and a lingering, nuanced finish that speaks of its noble origins and masterful craftsmanship. Expect a wine that, if well-stored, offers a truly profound and contemplative experience, showcasing the grace and longevity of aged Pinot Noir. 🍴 This venerable Vosne Romanee Les Brulees calls for food pairings that are equally refined and respectful of its delicate complexity. Ideal matches include roasted game birds like pheasant or partridge, truffle-infused dishes, slow-cooked beef bourguignon, or delicate lamb preparations. It would also be exquisite with aged, mild cheeses. The key is to choose dishes that are not overly assertive, allowing the wine's intricate flavors to shine. 🥂 This is a wine for a once-in-a-lifetime occasion, a truly momentous celebration, or a private tasting among serious connoisseurs. Its legendary status and extreme rarity make it a collector's dream. When serving such an old and precious bottle, extreme care is paramount. The cork may be fragile, so a Durand opener or similar device is highly recommended. Decanting should be approached with caution; a brief decant to remove sediment might be beneficial, but prolonged aeration could diminish its delicate aromas. Serve at a cool cellar temperature (around 16-18°C) in large Burgundy glasses to allow its full aromatic spectrum to unfold. Be prepared for the possibility of bottle variation due to its age, but a well-preserved bottle will offer an unforgettable experience.
BACKGROUND
Henri Jayer is a Burgundy red wine producer known for making some of the most acclaimed and expensive Pinot Noirs in the world. Jayer retired from winemaking in 2001 and died in 2006, leaving the winery to his nephew Emmanuel Rouget, with all vintages since 2001 released in his name. Henri Jayer's wines were produced in limited quantities and in dwindling quantities, making them some of the most collectible and expensive wines in the world. While critically acclaimed, the reputation of Jayer wines was further enhanced by the emergence of wine-related books such as the Japanese manga series Drops of God. The brand itself was founded by Jayer when he inherited 3 hectares (7 acres) of land in the Côte d'Or, which included land in the Grand Cru Echézeaux vineyard.
