Faiveley, Nuits Saint-georges Clos De La Marechale 1er Cru, 1971
🏰This venerable 1971 Faiveley Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Marechale 1er Cru offers a rare glimpse into Burgundy's past, hailing from a monopole vineyard renowned for its quality. The 1971 vintage was generally excellent for red 布根地, producing elegant and long-lived Pinot Noirs that have gracefully evolved over more than five decades.
【Experience a delicate, ethereal journey where primary fruit has gracefully receded, giving way to a captivating bouquet of complex tertiary aromas: forest floor, mushroom, truffle, dried leaves, leather, and savory spices.】 The color will likely be a beautiful brick-red or tawny, hinting at its long journey, while the palate will be silky and refined, a testament to its enduring elegance and still-present freshness from its underlying acidity.
🍴 This exquisite, aged 布根地 is best paired with delicate game birds like pheasant or duck, roasted poultry, mushroom dishes (especially with truffles), or classic coq au vin. It also complements aged hard cheeses beautifully. Avoid overly strong or spicy foods that might overpower its subtle nuances.
🥂 A truly rare and special occasion wine, this is for an intimate gathering of serious wine lovers, perhaps a significant anniversary or a celebratory moment where the wine itself is the star. The focus will be on appreciating its historical significance and the delicate nuances of extreme age.
Serving suggestion: Wines of this age can be fragile. The cork and capsule may be delicate, requiring extra care during opening. Sediment is also to be expected. Stand the bottle upright for several days before serving to allow any sediment to settle. Decant very gently and slowly, just before serving, to separate the clear wine from the sediment. Avoid excessive aeration. Serve at cellar temperature, around 14-16°C (57-61°F), in large Burgundy glasses to allow its delicate aromas to unfold.
